Funding Information, Student Grants

We hope the following list of resources available through Forbes College and the University to support individual or group projects will be helpful to you.

For events, programs, projects and initiatives located in Forbes or of direct benefit to the Forbes community we encourage you to contact the Forbes College Office, to reserve a space in Forbes please use our facilities request form. The Dale Summer Award (provides generous funds for projects and travel during the summer between sophomore and junior year) is the main resource for individual student projects and related travel expenses that take place outside of the college, but you will need to plan ahead and meet application deadlines if you wish to take advantage of these funds. If your funding needs are not met by the resources above, we suggest that you review the following list of University resources designed to support student projects, programs, and initiatives:

The office of the Vice President for Campus Life provides funding for individual and group projects.

The office of the Dean of the College provides a list of fellowships and grants to support projects related to academic work. Students are also encouraged to discuss projects and proposals related to their academic work with their faculty adviser and departmental representatives. If you are a first or second year student and have not yet declared your concentration you are encouraged to speak with the departmental representative in the department that would support your academic interests. Often individual departments have the most current advice on funds available to support student travel and research in areas related to the department's academic goals and areas of interest.

The office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students also provides information on funding for student proposals:

If you have a proposal that is international in scope you might also contact the Davis International Center and inquire if they have funds or programs that might be able to support your project.

Your chances of securing funding are best if you apply well in advance, have a detailed and well organized proposal or project in mind, and do your homework in terms of applying to the most appropriate resources. Good luck!
